Guest Speaker - Cat Miranda Ferreira

Cat Ferreira is a PhD student at De Montfort University. Her research project focuses on the transition from small-scale, individualised production to mass-manufacture of corsets in the nineteenth century.

She is working closely with the Symington Collection to explore how Symington’s, a Leicestershire-based corset company, succeeded in this transition, and how their construction methods and corset styles changed to adapt to mass-manufacture.

Cat also has an MA in Dress & Textile History from the University of Glasgow. In her spare time, she likes sewing from all centuries, and she is constantly making something.

Cat is facing slightly to the side in this head on image. They are looking to the top left of the image and wearing a peach dress over a white shirt. They have brown hair and brown eyes.
