Dr Kate Cherrell is a writer, public speaker and cultural historian, specialising in 19th century spiritualism and mourning culture.  

Her academic interests include the literary gothic, periodical culture, cemeteries and the funeral industry of the long 19th century. She writes commercially on dark and supernatural history and has lectured on Victorian mourning practices for several years. 

She co-hosts the weekly esoteric discussion podcast, Loopholes, and has blogged as ‘Burials and Beyond’ since 2017, celebrating memorials, cemeteries and forgotten history. 

She has appeared on television as a paranormal historian and has co-hosted Haunted Homecoming (2022) and Unexplained: Caught on Camera (2023) with several appearances scheduled for release in 2025.

She will be joining us to share her knowledge of Victorian Mourning fashions.
